Ducks Fall in Regular Season Finale
04/28/23 | Women's Lacrosse
BOULDER, Colo. — Oregon could not get in a rhythm as it dropped its final regular season game before the Pac-12 Tournament.
The Ducks (5-11, 1-9 Pac-12) struggled to find offensive footing as Colorado (9-7, 7-3 Pac-12) got out in front behind a 7-2 second-quarter effort.
How it Happened: The Buffaloes stormed out to a 3-0 lead from a trio of goal-scorers in the first quarter. Oregon got one back after Haley Taylor put away a free position chance to make it 3-1 coming out of the first period.
The Ducks struck first in the second behind a solo effort from sophomore Lauren Rismani. Colorado responded to the early pressure with a 4-0 run to pull out to a 7-2 advantage. Alyssa Wright added her fourteenth goal of the season before Colorado three more to close out the first half in front 10-3.
Madysyn Sweeney scored the first goal of the second half behind a feed from Haley Cummins to make it 10-4. The Buffaloes continued their offensive charge with another four-goal flurry for a 14-4 goal lead. Katie Collins scored Oregon's final goal of the game, firing home a free position opportunity.
Who Stood Out: Rismani finished with multiple points for the third consecutive game after recording a goal and an assist. Collins secured at least three draw controls for the fourth time in five games.
Notable: The Ducks had a 14-9 draw control advantage, highlighted by an 8-2 margin in the second period … Morgan McCarthy's goal-scoring streak ended at 26 games, having scored 54 goals in that stretch.
Up Next: Oregon heads to Berkeley, Calif., on Wednesday to take on Colorado for the second time in five days in the Pac-12 Tournament (7 p.m. PT, Pac-12 Network).
