Ducks Climb Leaderboard at NCAA Regional

BATH, Mich. – No. 22 Oregon shot a 10-under 274 to climb to third following the second round of the NCAA Bath Regional Tuesday at Eagle Eye Golf Club.
The Ducks will head to Wednesday's final round with an 11-shot cushion over sixth place. The top five teams from Bath Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships May 26-31 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
"We had a very solid round," said coach Casey Martin. "The course played more difficult today because of the wind, but we managed it well and hit some really quality golf shots."
Georgia continued to lead at 28-under 540. The Ducks and the Bulldogs had the best rounds in the field Tuesday at 10-under.
No. 3 Illinois was second at 18-under. Oregon is at 15-under (553) for the tournament and climbed over No. 15 Texas (12-under) and Michigan State (9-under) on Tuesday.
No. 10 Florida and Kansas State were tied for sixth at 4-under 564.
In the individual standings, Owen Avrit carded a 3-under 68 and was one shot behind Ben Van Wyk of Georgia for the tournament lead. Wyk was at 9-under 133, followed by Avrit and Georgia's Caleb Manuel at 8-under 134.

How It Happened: Avrit had just one bogey in the second round to go with four birdies and 13 pars. Starting on the back nine, he was 2-under through six holes before giving one back on No. 16. Avrit went to 2-under with a birdie on No. 18 and then rolled in his final birdie of the day on No. 7 to get to 3-under.
Greg Solhaug and Greyson Leach also shot 68s for Oregon.
Solhaug had four birdies, a bogey and 13 pars. He birdied back-to-back holes on No. 13 and No. 14. Solhaug bogeyed No. 17, but then went back-to-back again with birdies on No. 5 and No. 6 to reach 3-under. For the tournament, he was tied for 11th at 4-under 138.
Leach's round included an eagle on No. 16, where he holed out from the fairway. He was 2-over through four holes before a birdie on No. 14 got him to plus-1 and the eagle moved him into the red numbers. He followed his eagle with a birdie on No. 17 to get to 2-under and then birdied No. 3 to get to 3-under before closing out his round with six pars.
Overall, Leach was tied for 37th at 1-over 143.
Oregon also counted a 1-under 70 from Nate Stember. He had three birdies and two bogeys on Tuesday and was tied with Solhaug for 11th overall at 4-under 138.

Regional Medalist Notes: Avrit is looking to become just the third NCAA Regional medalist in program history and the first since Norman Xiong won the Stockton Regional in 2018. Oregon's other Regional winner was Joey Benedetti, who won the Bremerton Regional in 2008.
