
Gray Selected to USA Basketball’s AmeriCup Team Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon guard Chance Gray was one of 22 athletes to earn an invitation to USA Basketball's AmeriCup Team trials from May 11-15 in Colorado Springs, Colo., as Team USA prepares for the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup, USA Basketball's selection committee announced Thursday.
Gray is one of seven student-athletes from the Pac-12 competing for 12 roster spots on a team seeking its third consecutive AmeriCup title. The 12-player roster will return to Colorado Springs for training camp in June in preparation for the 2023 FIBA Women's AmeriCup, which is scheduled for July 1-9 in Leon, Mexico.
Trials will be run by AmeriCup coaches Kamie Ethridge (Washington State), Katrina Merriweather (Cincinnati) and Aaron Johnston (South Dakota State).
Gray, who is making her USA Basketball debut, earned Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and All-Defensive Team Honorable Mention accolades following her freshman campaign. Starting all 35 games for the Ducks, she averaged 10.3 points, 2.2 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game while shooting 33.1 percent from three.
Gray was voted Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Jan. 16 after her season-high 22 points on 5-of-9 3-point shooting against Washington State. Gray finished her initial season tied for third in UO freshman history with 56 made 3-pointers.
