The Ducks wrapped up preseason camp Wednesday, and will begin preparations for the season opener starting Friday.
Preseason camp wrapped up for the Oregon football team Wednesday, with a practice for the Ducks on their outdoor fields in full pads.
The team now has a day off from practice Thursday before resuming workouts Friday. That will be the first practice geared specifically toward Oregon's regular-season opener against Portland State on Sept. 2.
Following practice Wednesday, head coach Dan Lanning and quarterback Bo Nix met with local reporters. It was the first chance for local media to ask each about new billboards featuring Nix recently unveiled in both New York and Dallas.
Video of those interviews is embedded below. Some highlights ...
Lanning on the new billboards: "I think the biggest thing that proves is at the University of Oregon, you're gonna have the opportunity to be recognized. You're gonna be seen not just at a local level, but at a global level. I think that speaks just to the quality of the brand, how far it extends, and what it means."
Nix on the new billboards: "It's great for the university, I think. It's great for the team. (But) we're not going to let it distract us. We're going to keep the main thing the main thing, and that's doing our best to win football games."

Nix on seeing himself featured: "It's a lot bigger than me. It is a blessing to be in that opportunity and be in that position. I couldn't have done it without my teammates first of all, to even be in this situation where someone wants to do this for me. It speaks to the university. It speaks to the football program. It speaks to how prestigious it is to go to a place like Oregon. At one time you're on one side and you get to a school like Oregon and then things change and your story changes. I'm just blessed."
Lanning on progress he's seen this preseason: "I think overall, as a team, we're tackling better. And then just really execution on offense. Recognizing and being able to execute plays at a high level, everybody knowing their assignment, their job – and still there's room for improvement in both those areas. But I'd say defensively, we've tackled a lot better; offensively, executing at a high level."
