Football Practice Recap: Aug. 9
08/09/23 | Football, @GoDucksMoseley
Preseason camp continued for the Oregon football team with a practice Wednesday afternoon.
The Oregon football team was in shells Wednesday as preseason camp continued on the program's outdoor practice fields.
The Ducks have an off day Thursday, then are scheduled to resume practice Friday before holding the first scrimmage of preseason camp Saturday.
After practice Wednesday, special teams coordinator Joe Lorig, offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius and linebacker Devon Jackson met with media. Video of those interviews is embedded below.

Joe Lorig, on the competition at punter: "Really it's just about consistency. … It doesn't need to be a bomb every time. 'Four or five and 40' is what we're looking for — 4- or 5-second hang time and a 40-yard average. If we can do that, we'll be just fine. Just making sure we're consistent with it, especially under pressure."
Ajani Cornelius on chemistry along the offensive line: "Everybody just embraced us, so it's really just a matter of connection. That's a real emphasis on the team, is connecting with each other and bonding. So every day I'm out here, I just try to be as close with my brothers as possible. But I feel like a real team."

Devon Jackson on playing linebacker for a Dan Lanning defense: "He's a mastermind of the defense. Coming from Nebraska, to really learn the ins and outs of a defense like that from a mastermind, it was really a culture shock. It took me forever to learn it. But now I'm in a spot where I feel comfortable, like I know what I'm doing and know I can make plays fast."
Jackson on playing with added weight this fall: "It feels good. I feel like I'm not getting thrown around a lot this year. No, but it feels good. I feel like, with my athleticism, I can hold the weight. Working with the strength staff and nutrition staff, they help me put on the right weight, and not just bad weight. So I feel good when I'm out there."
