Krafft Impresses At Day One Of Husky Invite

BREMERTON, Wash. – Aiden Krafft led the way for the 22nd-ranked Oregon men's golf team at the Husky Invitational on Monday, firing 5-under to put himself in the top five as day one came to a close. Play was suspended before the second round concluded, but the Ducks finished in a three-way tie for second with California and Oregon State.
How It Happened
Oregon started slow in the first round, shooting a 2-under 286 to position itself in fourth in the standings after the first 18 holes. The Ducks have shot the second-best score in the second round thus far with a 7-under 281, helping UO rise up into a tie for second before tomorrow's final 18. At 9-under overall, Oregon trails the host team Washington by 12 strokes.
Krafft shot a bogey on the first hole of the day, but responded brilliantly by shooting par-or-better on the remaining 35 holes and finishing the day 5-under. Owen Avrit's 68 led the way in the first round as the fifth-year senior sank five birdies. Avrit finished 2-under overall and enters the final round tied for 12th.
Nate Stember shot even par on the day, including a 1-under 70 in the second round. He along with Hugh Adams – a freshman making his collegiate debut as an individual – concluded the second round tied for 26th. Greg Solhaug and Thomas Jenkins Jr. rounded out the UO lineup, each shooting 1-over and tying for 35th.
In the Husky Individual, Zikang Zhan put on an impressive performance to finish the second round tied for 18th at 1-under overall. Jay Gould-Healy sits tied for 29th after a 1-over day, and Eric Doyle shot a 1-under 70 in the second round to position himself in a tie for 33rd at 2-over overall. Making his collegiate debut is freshman Kyreece Romero, who finished the day 3-over to put himself in a tie for 36th.
