Jagare, Symons Advance at ITA Regionals

BERKELEY, Calif. – The Oregon women's tennis saw the doubles pair of Tilde Jagare and Olivia Symons advance to the round of 32 Friday on the first day of the ITA Northwest Regionals at Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkley, Calif.
Jagare and Symons took down Portland's duo of Lexie Flores and Alaia Rubio Perez 8-4 to advance to the round of 32. Also in the round of 32 is UO's tandem of Candela Aparisi and Karin Young, who earned a first-round bye and will begin their tournament on Saturday at 9 a.m. against Gonzaga's Brooke Bittner and Norhan Hesham.
Jagare and Symons will take on Stanford's doubles team of Valerie Glozman and Connie Ma Saturday at 9 a.m. for a spot in the round of 16. So far in the young fall season, Jagare and Symons are 3-1 when paired together.
Marjorie Souza and Julia Visaya matched up against Kelly Arends and Leandra Nizetic of Eastern Washington on Friday, but fell 8-6 and will compete in the consolation bracket on Saturday.
Saturday will also bring the start of singles play, with Aparisi, Souza and Young competing in the round of 64. Young will face off against Lou Baudouin from Sacramento State at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the round of 64. Aparisi and Souza, whose opponents are yet to be determined, will begin play at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
