03/08/24 | Women's Tennis
BOULDER, Colo. – The 55th-ranked Oregon women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end Friday, as the Ducks dropped their Pac-12 opener at No. 60 Colorado 4-2 at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center
Â
UO (8-4, 0-1 Pac-12) failed to clinch the doubles point for just the third time this season. The Buffaloes' top two pairs were victorious to give CU a 1-0 lead as the match headed to singles play.
Â
Playing on just three courts, the top three in the lineup from each side squared off first. Uxia Martinez Moral promptly evened the score with a straight-set victory at No. 3, defeating Mila Stanojevic 6-0, 6-2. The win marked Martinez Moral's team-leading ninth of the spring season.
Â
Jo-Yee Chan followed closely with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Elys Ventura on court two, giving the Ducks a 2-1 advantage. The win gave Chan her eighth spring singles win to tie for second on the team.
Â
Colorado responded with a win at No. 1, tying the match again at 2-2 4s the final three matches took center stage.
Â
Straight-set wins at Nos. 4 and 5 clinched Colorado's 11th straight victory. UO's lead in the all-time series is cut to 14-13, with the Buffs winning two straight after the Ducks had won three consecutive matches in the series.
