OJAI, Calif. – The No. 64 Oregon women's tennis team fell in its opening-round matchup at the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament against No. 41 Arizona at Weil Tennis Academy, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ducks, the No. 10 seed in the tournament, dropped the doubles point while seventh-seeded Wildcats won three singles matches in straight sets to advance to the quarterfinal round.

Arizona earned the doubles point with a 6-0 victory at No. 2, followed by a 6-2 win by its 39^th-ranked doubles team of Reese Carter and Brendelyn Fulgenzi at the top spot in the lineup.

The Wildcats won in straight sets on courts two, five and six to earn four team points and clinch the victory. Sophomore Jo-Yee Chan took her opening set at No. 3 over Martyna Ostrzygalo, 6-3, but the match went to a third set with Chan leading 4-1 in the third set when the match was decided.

The Ducks' Nina Geissler suffered a 6-2, 6-1 setback on court two before Karin Young fell to Fulgenzi, 6-3, 7-5. On court six, freshman Candela Aparisi lost a first-set tiebreaker before ultimately falling 7-6 (2), 6-3 to Arizona's Tanvi Narendran.

All 13 of Oregon's losses this season have come against teams currently ranked in the ITA's top-75 poll, including 12 inside the nation's top 50.
