Football Practice Recap: April 6
04/06/24 | Football
The Oregon football team was in full pads for another spring practice Saturday morning.
The Oregon football team hit the one-third mark of this year's spring schedule Saturday, when the Ducks held their fifth of 15th practices, in full pads on their outdoor practice fields.
Saturday's practice was attended by families who participate with two local non-profit groups, the Kidsports youth sports program and Uplifting Athletes, which provides experiences for community members battling rare diseases. After practice, staff and players mingled with the visitors.
Afterward, receivers coach Junior Adams met with local media, as did offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius, defensive lineman Keyon Ware-Hudson, receiver Traeshon Holden and defensive lineman A'Mauri Washington. Video of those interviews is embedded below.
Some highlights from coach Adams …
On moving on without record-setting WR Troy Franklin: "Obviously Troy had a good season, (but) you return everyone but Troy — and then you add Evan (Stewart) to the room. So you still got veterans in there with Gary (Bryant) and Traeshon (Holden); Evan's played a lot of snaps at A&M. And then you've got the young guys in there, and those guys are developing— Kyler (Kasper), Jurrion (Dickey), the Justius Lowes — and then you got the young freshmen. So that room, it's still intact, and we're really excited about it."

On the depth of talent in the receiving rooms: "There's a lot of talent, right? But it's all about what you do on the day to day, guys just making plays and competing against each other. That room is, like I said, what happens in those four walls, happens in that four walls. They are a tight-knit group; they cheer each other on and root for each other. The cool thing about it is they help each other out, right? If you can see those guys in the meeting room and how they attack the meeting, you can see them … for example, turn back and talk to one of the freshmen, like, 'Hey, this is what the signal is, this is what the play is.' They're all helping each other out. The way practice ended, Evan made a big play. And you can see everybody, the other whole receiving corps and the whole offense and everyone out there just helmet tapped him, so it was really cool to see how we ended."

On facing some new faces who joined the secondary as transfers: "It's awesome. Like we like to say, iron sharpens iron, right? We got some good work. Jabbar (Muhammad) is playing good, Nikko (Reed) is playing good. You got some good young guys; you got Sione (Laulea) stepping in. We're excited to go against those guys every day. If you looked at today's practice, it was high energy and guys competed."
