EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon women's basketball's Elisa Mevius was selected to Germany's 3x3 basketball roster and will represent her home country in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Germany announced Wednesday.
Mevius, a 5-foot-10 junior guard, is entering her first season as a Duck after she transferred from Siena following two standout seasons. Mevius is a two-time all-MAAC selection and was tabbed 2023-24 MAAC defensive player of the year and 2022-23 rookie of the year.
In her collegiate career, Mevius is averaging 11.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.3 steals per game while shooting 41.8 percent from the floor. She produced Siena's first-ever triple-double last season when she dropped 16 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists against Rider, earning her MAAC player-of-the-week recognition.
Mevius is the fifth current or former Duck selected to compete at the Paris Olympics, joining Maite Cazorla (Spain), Sabrina Ionescu (USA), Nyara Sabally (Germany) and Satou Sabally (Germany) who were each named to their respective country's 5x5 rosters. Mevius will be the fourth Duck to compete in the Olympic Games as an active player at UO, joining Micaela Cocks (2008, New Zealand), Alison Lang (1980, Canada) and Bev Smith (1980, Canada).
Germany will play five contests in five days in the pool play, beginning with the United States on Tuesday, July 30. Germany will go on to face Australia, Canada, China and Spain.
