EUGENE, Ore. – Former Oregon women's basketball star Maite Cazorla will once again represent Spain at the Olympic Games, as she was officially named to Spain's Olympic roster ahead of the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
Cazorla competed in the 2020 Tokyo Games for Spain and helped her home country to a quarterfinal appearance, averaging 7.8 points and 1.8 assists a game over four contests. She scored a tournament-best 17 point in 17 minutes against Serbia during group play.
A native of Las Palmas, Spain, Cazorla has been part of Spain's National Senior Team since 2021, competing at FIBA Women's EuroBasket championships, among others. She also competed for the Spanish National Youth Teams from 2012-17 and led Spain to a third-place finish at the U19 FIBA World Championships in the summer of 2015.
Cazorla played at Oregon from 2015-19 and was part of the Ducks' first-ever Final Four team in 2019. She earned all-Pac-12 honors as a junior and senior in addition to being named to the Pac-12's all-freshman team in 2015-16. Cazorla was a second-round selection of the Atlanta Dream in the 2019 WNBA Draft and currently plays for USK Praha in the Czech Republic.
Cazorla is the second former Duck to represent her home country at the Paris Games, joining Sabrina Ionescu who was named to Team USA's roster in June.
Spain begins group play against China on Sunday, July 28 before taking on Puerto Rico on Wednesday, July 31 and Serbia on Saturday, Aug. 3.
