Mevius' side defeated Spain 17-16 to secure the first Olympic medal by a current or former UO women's basketball player, as well as the first 3x3 medal for Germany.
Mevius and Germany started the day with a 16-15 over Canada in the semifinals, as Sonja Greinacher hit a buzzer-beater with one second on the clock to send Germany to the gold-medal game. The win set up a matchup with Spain, who defeated the United States in the other semifinal.
In the gold-medal game, Mevius scored four points on 3-of-5 shooting, and tied the game at 15-15 with a driving layup with 1:23 to play. Germany trailed for much of the contest, and by as many as four points with just under four minutes to play, before finishing on a 9-4 run.
