EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon football took home the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honor for the second week in a row on Monday as kicker Atticus Sappington received the recognition for his performance in the Ducks' 49-14 win at Oregon State.
Playing against his former team, Sappington went 2-for-2 on field goals and 5-for-5 on extra points to help fuel Oregon's explosive offense. His field goals came from 25 and 39 yards, and he also kicked off eight times for an average of 64.2 yards per kick with five touchbacks.
Sappington's recognition comes a week after teammate Tez Johnson, who was the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a punt 85 yards for a touchdown against Boise State.
The No. 9 Ducks (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) will have a bye this week before opening conference play at UCLA (1-1, 0-1 Big Ten) on Sept. 28. Kickoff time and TV details for the Ducks' game against the Bruins will be announced following the conclusion of games this Saturday, Sept. 21.
