Two Ducks in the Hunt After 36 Holes at Sahalee

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Aiden Krafft and Greyson Leach showed they were already in mid-season form in Oregon men's golf's season opener, as both sit in the top 25 after the first 36 holes at the Sahalee Players Championship. Krafft's stellar second round, in which he carded six birdies and an eagle, puts him in a tie for second place while Leach is in a tie for 22nd at 1-over. As a team, the Ducks sit in tenth place at 14-over entering Sunday's final round.
Arizona State leads the field at 13-under, eight strokes ahead of second-place Pepperdine. Oklahoma State (E), Arizona (+4) and Northwestern (+6) round out the top five.
How It Happened
Oregon came out swinging in the first round, finishing in fifth as a team after a 6-over 294 in the first 18 holes. The course proved to be more of a challenge for UO in the second round as the squad slipped to T10 on the leaderboard after an 8-over 296.
Leach and Krafft were tied for fifth after both shot a 1-under 71 in the first round before Krafft took off in the second, firing six birdies and an eagle en route to a 2-under 70 finish. Leach put together a solid second round himself, carding an 2-over 74 with 14 pars and one birdie, although he bogeyed two of his final three holes.
After a double bogey on the par-4 12th, Jeffrey Kwak finished the first round 2-over with three birdies and three bogeys. His up-and-down debut for the Ducks continued in the second round as he answered three double bogeys with five birdies. Kwak enters Sunday's final round in tied for 40th place at 3-over.
Eric Doyle and Daniel Bullen wrapped up the Ducks' lineup, finishing at 12-over and 15-over, respectively, after Saturday's opening rounds.
Jay Gould-Healy, competing as an individual, carded three birdies in each round and sits in a tie for 45th place heading into the final 18 holes.
