EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team opened its fall season with a strong showing on the first day of the Duck Invitational, collecting five doubles victories to go with five singles wins Friday at the Student Tennis Center.
The Ducks began the day going 5-3 across eight doubles matches, including winning three of four doubles matches against Portland in the day's first doubles session. Paired with different partners throughout the day, freshman Hadley Appling, freshman Virginia Crocker, sophomore Patsy Daughters and sophomore Avery Jennings each posted a 2-0 doubles records on the day.
Appling and Jenning began the day with a 6-0 victory over Kylie Canubida and Kennedy Harris of Portland, while Appling and Crocker earned a 6-3 win over the Pilots' duo in the second round of doubles.
