Oregon closes out the Cactus Classic on Saturday against a pair of top-20 teams.

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Oregon beach volleyball team dropped a pair of duals on day one of the Cactus Classic. Both opponents Friday—host Arizona and Boise State—are receiving votes in this week's poll. With the results, the Ducks are now 3-2 going into Saturday's matches against top-20 teams Arizona State and Stetson.

Bella Gamache and Ella Tyus secured a point against host Arizona with a 22-20, 21-17 win over Brooke Blutreich and Kylee Fitzsimmons at No. 1 pairs. By that point, however, the Wildcats had clinched the match with victories on courts two, three and four.

In the final dual in play, the UO team of Kamilah Checani and Isabel Patterson took the opening set 22-20 but Arizona rallied for the three-set win at No. 5 pairs.

The Ducks worked their way into a pair of three setters against Boise State. At No. 4s, Natasha George and Liz Rossi won the first set but the Boise team of Emilia Guerra-Acuna and Addison Moss rallied for the dual-clinching point.

Landree Coats and AJ Slojkowski dropped the opening set at No. 2 pairs but forced a third before the Broncos pulled through in the penultimate match of the dual. At the top spot of the lineup, Gamache and Coats dropped a tight two sets to Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden. The two teams played to a 31-29 score in the second.
