Vlad Breazu Named Big Ten Player of the Week

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon men's tennis player Vlad Breazu has been named Big Ten Player of the Week.
Breazu helped the Ducks to a weekend sweep over No. 31 Illinois and Northwestern, clinching both matches with the decisive fourth point. On April 18, Breazu defeated No. 76 ranked William Mroz of Illinois 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) to clinch a 4-1 win. He teamed with Clement Lemire for a 6-3 doubles win on April 20, before defeating Felix Nordby 1-6, 6-0, 7-5 for his second consecutive clinching win.
The pair of victories propelled Oregon to the No. 9 seed in the Big Ten, earning the Ducks a spot in the conference tournament this weekend. UO faces Illinois Thursday at 8 a.m. PT in Columbus, Ohio.
