Football Practice Report: April 8
04/08/25 | Football
The Ducks kicked off a new week of spring drills in Autzen Stadium on Tuesday.
EUGENE, Ore. — The second full week of spring practice began for the Oregon football team with a workout Tuesday inside Autzen Stadium.
The Ducks will get back to work Thursday, and then hold the first major scrimmage of the spring on Saturday in the stadium. It will be the first of three straight Saturday scrimmages for the UO football team this month, capped by the Spring Game on April 26.
Following Tuesday's practice, head coach Dan Lanning met with local media, as did new receivers coach Ross Douglas, quarterback Austin Novosad and receiver Gary Bryant Jr. Video of those interviews is embedded below.

Some highlights from coach Lanning …
On the addition of Douglas to the staff: "Ross is the kind of guy that comes to work every day looking to work. He taps in every single day saying, 'OK, I'm gonna go get this and attack it.' He brings a lot of experience and knowledge from different programs, some great programs; Fran Brown did an awesome job there at Syracuse last year, and I think he did a great job helping develop his coaches. You look at being able to win 10 games at Syracuse, and really changing their offense over a year — becoming one of the best passing offenses in college football, and that's part of what Ross brings here. But his energy, his enthusiasm, his effort to coach every single day, I think that's really a credit to the way he approaches each day."
On how he judges success in spring ball: "Are we better today than we were yesterday? It's simple — like, if we make a mistake, are we making that same mistake in the next practice? Because mistakes are gonna happen, and that's about growth. It's about losing a rep and a tackling drill and then saying, I want to get back out there so I can do it again and do it better. Maybe I lose another rep, but I'm learning every one of those reps."
On how young players are getting up to speed: "I think they've handled it really well. We take more of the approach of having a lot of walk-throughs before we get into spring ball, but we're going to throw the kitchen sink at you and see what sticks. It's going to be a challenge. It's a process."
