
Ducks Fall to Cornhuskers

LINCOLN, Neb. — Oregon struggled to sustain its early momentum and was overwhelmed after halftime in a 90–55 loss to No. 8 Nebraska on Tuesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Ducks (8–9, 1-5) were competitive through much of the first half, briefly leading and trading momentum with the Cornhuskers before Nebraska closed the period on a 14-2 run. Oregon shot 57.1 percent from the field in the opening half and was 4 of 10 from 3-point range, but turnovers and second-chance opportunities allowed Nebraska to build a 42–30 lead at the break.
Wei Lin provided a team-high 14 points, hitting three 3-pointers and converting all three of his free throws. Nate Bittle recorded 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including two 3-pointers, and added three rebounds. Takai Simpkins finished with 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting, while Kwame Evans Jr. contributed eight points and six rebounds.
How It Happened: Despite the efficient start, Oregon was unable to maintain its offensive rhythm in the second half. The Ducks shot just 29.6 percent from the floor after intermission and went 2 of 13 from beyond the arc. The Ducks also struggled at the free-throw line overall, making 9 of 17 attempts for the game.
Nebraska opened the second half with an 11–3 run, stretching the margin to 50–33 and effectively seizing control. Oregon was unable to slow the Cornhuskers' perimeter shooting, as Nebraska finished 17 of 36 from 3-point range for the game. The Ducks were outscored 48–25 in the second half and trailed by as many as 39 points.
The Ducks committed 16 turnovers, which Nebraska turned into 23 points. The Cornhuskers also led the game in bench production, outscoring Oregon 37-7 off the bench.
Nebraska shot 53.3 percent from the field overall and controlled the game for more than 33 minutes of action. The Cornhuskers improved to 17–0 and 6-0 in conference play.
