02/11/26 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
EUGENE, Ore. – Senior base Blessyn McMorris has been named the NCATA Athlete of the Week after helping lead Oregon to its first win of the season against Missouri State.
McMorris was outstanding in the pyramid event for Oregon, helping the team to scores of 9.85 or higher in all three heats. Oregon earned a 29.70 in the pyramid event to open the season, which was one of the team's strongest events last season. McMorris helped the Ducks to two perfect 10 scores and their first ever individual NCATA title in the event in 2025.
The Ducks put up a 9.90 score in the inverted pyramid, and McMorris acted as the base as Oregon earned a near-perfect 9.95 score in the open pyramid heat.
The Lynwood, Ill., native is the first Duck to earn Athlete of the Week honors in 2026 after being named an NCATA all-American last season. McMorris is no stranger to NCATA weekly awards, as she earned Athlete of the Week honors in 2025 and was named Freshman of the Week three times in 2022. She remains the only Duck in program history to be named Freshman of the Year.
McMorris was not the only Duck to be recognized this week as sophomore Selah Bell and freshman Nyla Lassiter earned honorable mention nods.
Bell earned Athlete of the Week honorable mention honors as she joined McMorris to post a 9.950 score in the open pyramid event alongside Charlotte Lippa and Ashlyn Parlett. Lassiter picked up the Freshman of the Week honorable mention after she had a strong showing in her Oregon debut.
The Ducks return to action on Saturday, Feb. 21 when they host Quinnipiac for the first home meet of the season at 4 p.m. in Matthew Knight Arena.
