
A&T Solidifies Strong Victory at Hawaii Pacific

HONOLULU, Hawaii – The trip to Hawaii was no vacation for the Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team, who put on one of their most dominant displays of the spring in a 275.355-263.675 victory over Hawaii Pacific.
The No. 2 ranked Ducks (5-1) gained an early lead in the compulsory event and channeled that momentum throughout the duration of the competition, gaining an eventual 12-point advantage over the No. 15 ranked Sharks.
Oregon excelled in all six events, with just one score for the night under 9.0. Highlighted by season-high scores in the toss event, particularly in the open heat. The best score of the night came in the open pyramid heat, when the Ducks posted their third 9.95 of the year in the event.
How It Happened: The Ducks started strong in the compulsory event, and carried that momentum throughout the duration of the meet. Three of four heats were scored above nine, capped by a 9.900 in the toss. Selah Bell and Kamryn Horiuchi topped what has been Oregon's strength in the compulsory so far this season.
The lead was extended in the acro event as the Ducks posted three more scores above nine. The dynamic duo of Cassidy Cu and Angelica Martin opened with another 9.900 in the five-element heat and contributed another stellar seven element showing to the team total of 66.950, more than three points ahead of the Sharks after just two events.
Ashlyn Parlett, Emily Rezner, Ava Gowdy, Blessyn McMorris and Selah Bell took to the mat with Sophia Wing as the counter in the third and final pyramid heat to post the best score of the night, a 9.950, as the Ducks entered halftime with a growing four-point lead.
Consistency and control proved to be key factors for Oregon, who posted a new season best with a 28.850 score for the event. The best score of the event was a 9.75 open heat with Parlett, Rezner, Charlotte Lippa and Molly Dahlager as support while Carly Garcia executed an excellent toss, which matched the best score this season in the toss event.
Oregon's tumblers reached their third score of the season in the 57-point range and outscored Hawaii Pacific in all six passes, leaving a significant lead entering the team event. With all tumbling scores above nine, the Ducks rounded out the evening with the lowest score coming in the compulsory tumbling at an 8.900. Garcia joined Briya Alvarado and Morgan Willingham with three of the best passes of the evening.
UO concluded their show of success with a 92.980 team event, their second-best score of the year. The Ducks outscored their opponents by nearly 12 points, earning their fifth win of the season in a decisive fashion.
