McMorris Earns Specialist of the Week Honors
03/04/26 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
EUGENE, Ore. – Senior base Blessyn McMorris has been named the NCATA Specialist of the Week, earning her second weekly recognition of the season after helping Oregon to its best score of the year at No. 1 ranked Baylor.
The Lynwood, Ill., native was once again outstanding in the pyramid event, helping Oregon to scores of 9.95, 9.90 and 9.80. The Ducks bested Baylor in the event, with a total pyramid score of 29.65-28.80. McMorris competed in seven heats and the team event on Saturday as the Ducks finished with a season best 272.530 total meet score. With McMorris competing in all nine pyramid heats this year, the Oregon is averaging 29.517 in the event through three meets.
After being named an NCATA all-American last season, McMorris has earned two weekly awards in 2026 and has competed in all three meets for Oregon. McMorris is no stranger to NCATA weekly awards, as she earned Athlete of the Week honors in the first week of 2026 as well as once in 2025. She earned Freshman of the Week recognitions three times in 2022, and remains the only Duck in program history to be named Freshman of the Year.
Freshman Nyla Lassiter and junior Ashlyn Parlett joined McMorris in the weekly recognitions, earning honorable mention nods. Parlett was named athlete of the week earlier this season after competing in 10 heats and the team event to help the Ducks to six scores of 9.50 or higher in their win over Quinnipiac. Lassiter earns her second freshman of the week honorable mention after making an impact as one of two freshman competing in the Oregon lineup this year.
The Ducks head back to the mat at home this Friday, when they host No. 9 Gannon at 6 p.m. PT in Matthew Knight Arena.
