EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon claimed the doubles point but couldn't carry the momentum into singles play as No. 21 UCLA defeated the Ducks 4-2 on Friday.
Oregon opened strong by winning two of three doubles matches to take the 1-0 lead. Vlad Breazu and Declan Galligan teamed for a 6-2 victory, and Pierre Mouesca and Lachlan Robertson added a 6-4 win to secure the point for the Ducks.
In singles, UCLA responded by winning on court four as Andy Nguyen beat Robertson. Cameron Burton put the Ducks back in front with a 6-2, 6-4 win on court six.
Emon van Loben Sels topped Mouesca to put UCLA back in front, followed by a win on court five and the clinching match point came when Rudy Quan defeated Breazu on court one. The match between Oregon's Sam Olszakowski and UCLA's Aadarsh Tripathi was unfinished with Olszakowski up a set.
The Ducks close out the regular season at home on Sunday (11 a.m. PT) against USC.
