EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon's Big Ten Conference series win at Illinois led to Ducks' second baseman Ryan Cooney being named co-Big Ten Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Â
Â
Cooney continued his stellar play slashing .692/.750/1.308 with a 2.058 OPS while leading Oregon to a road-series win. Cooney reached base in 12 of his 16 plate appearances going 9-for-13 with two walks and a hit-by-pitch. The Ducks second baseman had four extra-base hits finishing with a pair of homers and two doubles.
Â
In a game one run-rule win, Cooney went 5-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. The five hits in a game were the most by a Duck since April 1, 2023. In game two, Cooney reached base four times (1-for-3, 2 BB, HBP) while scoring a run.
Â
In the Ducks series clinching win on Sunday, Cooney belted a pair of home runs while going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. His first home run tied the game at two in the fifth inning, while his second homer (a 2-run shot) came with Oregon leading by just one run.
Â
It's the third conference player of the week honor for Cooney, who earned the award twice in May 2025. He is the first Oregon player to be named conference player of the week three times, passing two-time winners Dominic Hellman, Jacob Walsh, Scott Heineman, Mitchell Tolman, Ryon Healy, Aaron Payne and Eddie Rodriguez.
