EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon football head coach Dan Lanning announced a pair of promotions ahead of the 2026 season on Tuesday, elevating Tyler Dean to the role of general manager and Lydia Gibbs to assistant general manager.
Â
Both Dean and Gibbs joined Lanning's inaugural staff in 2022, with Dean working as director of player personnel for three years before being elevated to director of scouting in 2025. Gibbs has been the Ducks' director of on-campus recruiting since arriving in Eugene.Â
Â
"Tyler and Lydia have earned these new opportunities through incredible hard work and relentless dedication to this program," Lanning said. "They have been instrumental in the success we have had on the recruiting trail and in roster construction since they joined our staff. They are each going to thrive in their new roles and will continue to help the Ducks achieve at the highest levels both on and off the field."
Â
Dean and Gibbs have both been on Lanning's staff since 2022, a span in which Oregon ranks third nationally in wins (48) and tied for second in winning percentage (85.7). Since 2023, Oregon leads the nation with a 38-5 overall record and an 88.4 winning percentage.Â
Â
Both Dean and Gibbs have played a big role in Oregon's recruiting success since Lanning took over. The Ducks have repeatedly brought in nationally-ranked high school recruiting classes, including consecutive top-five classes in 2025 and 2026. Oregon has also found continued success in signing impact players through the transfer portal.Â
Â
Dean joined the Ducks in 2022 after spending the previous four years at Texas A&M as a recruiting and personnel specialist. A 2017 graduate from Rhodes College, Dean worked in the athletic development office at Memphis for the 2017 season before transitioning into working in football at Texas A&M.
Â
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that Rob Mullens, Coach Lanning, Marshall Malchow and the University of Oregon have given me during my time in Eugene," Dean said. "The past four seasons have been an unbelievable blessing for my wife, Erin, and I to be a part of such a tremendous program, university and community. The Oregon family has embraced us with open arms and we are thrilled to be able to continue to be a part of this family. This is an honor that I do not take lightly and I promise to give everything I have every single day in this new role. Go Ducks!"
Â
Gibbs was a recruiting intern at Georgia from 2017-19, crossing paths with Lanning when he joined the Bulldogs as linebackers coach. She graduated from Georgia in 2019 before reuniting with Lanning in 2022 as the Ducks' director of on-campus recruiting, and she has also held internships with the NFL Women's Forum and the Kansas City Chiefs. Gibbs becomes the first woman to hold the title of assistant general manager for a Power 4 program.
Â
"I am deeply honored to step into the role of assistant general manager at the University of Oregon," Gibbs said. "Having worked with Coach Lanning over the last four years and previously at Georgia, this has been a meaningful, full-circle journey and I am incredible grateful for the trust, mentorship and support of our leadership, staff and student-athletes. I am energized to continue building, leading and competing at the highest level with an exceptional team and promise to act with kindness, build with love and be intentional with every step and decision. Go Ducks!"
