EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon, Big Ten Network and DAZN, the world's leading sports entertainment platform, announced a coordinated content and distribution effort that builds on the momentum of Oregon football's summer trip to Japan, where head coach Dan Lanning and seven Oregon student-athletes traveled to Tokyo in June for the Tokyo Oregon Football Showcase hosted by Division Street Events and the Japan Gridiron Association.
Â
DAZN, which through an agreement with the Big Ten Network streams all Big Ten football games internationally, will make Oregon's home game against Portland State available free-to-view to fans in Japan and worldwide (outside of the US). The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT Friday, September 18, which is 11:30 a.m. Saturday the 19th in Japan (JST). Fans outside of the US can create a free account on www.dazn.com to watch Oregon's game against Portland State and can purchase an annual or monthly subscription to access all Oregon football games.
Â
"The Tokyo Oregon Football Showcase created real connections, and this is a special way to build on the momentum created by our visit," Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said. "Working with Big Ten Network and DAZN lets us bring Oregon football to fans in Japan and in all international markets DAZN serves, and we look forward to continuing to add additional content and other elements to this partnership."
Â
Shay Segev, DAZN Group CEO, said: "DAZN's collaboration with the Big Ten Network and the University of Oregon is a great example of how we connect passionate fan communities across borders. We're excited to bring the Ducks' season to audiences in Japan and around the world, giving more fans free access to live Big Ten action. As the home of major US leagues and teams internationally, DAZN is helping leading sports properties grow their reach and deepen engagement with fans worldwide."
Â
Oregon Athletics will also share original programming with DAZN, including the weekly Ducks v. Them in-season series and collaborative social content. Additionally, Big Ten Network will deliver an upcoming episode of The B1G Trip, its documentary chronicling the Oregon delegation's time in Japan, to DAZN for international distribution. In addition to Lanning, the seven student-athletes who participated in the Japan trip included Jordon Davison, Dierre Hill Jr., Jamari Johnson, Jeremiah McClellan, Dakorien Moore, Dante Moore, and Evan Stewart.
