Johnson On Mackey Award Watch List

EUGENE – Watch list season continued for the Oregon football program on Wednesday as tight end Jamari Johnson was recognized by the John Mackey Award, presented to the most outstanding tight end in college football.Â
Johnson is set to take over a leading role in the tight end room in 2026, following a productive first season in Eugene in which he put up 510 yards and three touchdowns while playing behind a Mackey Award finalist and NFL first-round pick in Kenyon Sadiq.Â
Johnson becomes the seventh different Duck to be named to a national award watch list this week, on the morning of the Ducks' first fall camp practice. Oregon landed three players on the watch lists for both the Outland Trophy and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Tuesday - including defensive lineman A'Mauri Washington on both - and quarterback Dante Moore was on the Maxwell Award watch list on Monday.Â
No. 2 in the AFCA preseason coaches poll, the Ducks begin fall practice on Wednesday in preparation for their 2026 season opener against Boise State on Saturday, Sept. 5, in Autzen Stadium (12:30 p.m., CBS). Season and single-game tickets are available at www.GoDucks.com/fbtix.Â
