2005 ? A consistent player who helped the Ducks both offensively and defensively as she started 59 of 60 games at shortstop. For the second season in a row, Sabol was a key part of Oregon’s conference-leading double plays (18). Also led the Pac-10 with 20 sacrifice bunts after finishing third in the nation with 29 sacrifices in 2004. Displayed her speed in 2005, leading the team with 20 stolen bases after posting just seven in her first two years combined. Her 20 stolen bases is the eighth-best single-season output and she now ranks tied for ninth all-time on the UO career list with 27 stolen bases. Hit in the number two spot in 30 games and in the number nine spot in 20 games, but in four of Oregon’s last five games of the season, Sabol settled into the fifth spot and went 4-for-14 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored. On May 13, with Washington pitcher Caitlin Noble throwing a no-hitter, Sabol got the Ducks’ first hit of the game ? a three-run home run to lead Oregon to the win. Began the season by getting three hits in each of Oregon’s first three games, going 9-for-15 with five runs scored two doubles and five RBI in the Ducks’ season-opening tournament. Went 1-for-2 with a run scored in a 3-1 win over UCLA Apr. 2 and in a 3-0 win over No. 2 Arizona, Sabol was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Finished the year with two hits, one run scored and a stolen base in postseason play.
2004 ? Continued her consistent play as a sophomore starting all 63 games at shortstop for the Ducks. With another injury-free season, Sabol is now the only current player on the roster to have started every game at the same position over the past two seasons, bringing her streak of consecutive starts to 119. Always known as a solid defensive player, Sabol’s offense was at times the deciding factor in Oregon’s success. She improved her offensive statistics across the board and in the Ducks’ first tournament of the season, Sabol was 5-for-14 (.357) with a double, three runs scored and two RBI. After hitting in the eighth or ninth spot in the order during her freshman year, Sabol took over the No. 2 spot as a sophomore and finished third in the nation in sacrifice bunts per game (.46). Sabol’s 29 sacrifice’s were an Oregon single-season record and also led the Pac-10. Three weeks after the opening tournament, Sabol hit her first home run of the season vs. Southern Mississippi as she went 2-for-3 with three RBI. A week later, Sabol enjoyed a career day as she was 4-for-4 vs. Rutgers. And as the Pac-10 season opened, it was Sabol’s bat that secured a hard-fought win over Oregon State. Oregon struggled to find its offense as it trailed the Beavers, 8-3, heading into the final inning of play. It was then that Sabol and the Ducks began to rally back. Sabol led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single that started a six-run rally for Oregon. Sabol not only started the rally, she capped it with a two-out, two-RBI single through the left side later in the inning to score Ann Marie Topps and Suzie Barnes for the winning run. Sabol was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in the win. On May 1, Oregon dominated then-No. 7 Washington at Howe Field in part because of a three-run home run and career-best four RBI by Sabol ? it is Sabol’s lone home run in Pac-10 play. As usual her defense matched as Oregon led the conference with 32 double plays and was third in the nation, averaging .51 double plays per game.
2003 ? Consistently played with a flare and confidence in the infield and came up with big plays both offensively and defensively. Turned a double play in the seventh inning to stall a UCLA comeback at Howe Field April 12 as the Ducks held on to defeat the second-ranked and eventual NCAA champion Bruins, 5-4. Also scored the winning run in the eighth inning vs. No. 4 Michigan Feb. 15 and hit a triple in the game. Opened the season by going 2-for-3 with an RBI vs. Texas A&M Corpus Christi and ended the season with five hits at the NCAA Regionals. Also had her second career home run vs. Oklahoma State in the postseason, leading the Ducks to a 7-6 12-inning victory. Perhaps her most prolific offensive day came in a 3-0 win over Santa Clara as she was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two doubles and a stolen base. Scored the lone run in a 1-0 victory over Texas Tech Feb. 22 and was 1-for-2 on the day.
