Andrew Murray

Andrew came to Oregon in June 2016 to fulfill the new role of Director of Performance & Sport Science in the new Marcus Mariota Sports Performance Centre. His role is to promote data driven decision making within a multi-disciplinary environment that answers coach-led performance questions.
Scottish by birth, Andrew came to Oregon via way of the Middle East where he was the Senior Sports Physiologist at the Aspire Academy in Doha, Qatar. In this role he supported the best male sporting talent in the country on their athletic development journey with a goal of representing Qatar at international level.
Prior to this Andrew had 5 years at the sportscotland institute of sport in Stirling, Scotland. Here he provided scientific support to help prepare Scottish athletes to perform on the world stage, encompassing the double home games of the London 2012 Olympics and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Prior to this he was Sport Scientist for Heart of Midlothian Football Club in the Scottish Premier League (2006-2008) and wrote and delivered coach education programmes for the Scottish Football Association.
An applied practitioner with over 12 years of experience on 3 continents, Andrew is also widely published in peer reviewed journals and has given a number of international conference presentations on sport performance and the application of scientific principles to make an impactful difference to preparation. He holds High Performance Sport Accreditation from the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) and is a Chartered Scientist (CSci). He has also completed the International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sports Nutrition in addition to his postgraduate studies in Physiology at the University of Glasgow.
