Jonathan Krause
- Title:
- Graduate Assistant - Offense
Jonathan Krause is in his third season as a graduate assistant working with wide receivers on Mario Cristobal’s staff.
In the spring of 2018 before coming to Oregon, Krause served a short stint as a volunteer coach at his alma mater, Vanderbilt, after completing a four-year professional career.
OREGON (2018-Present)
During his two seasons at Oregon, Krause has helped Oregon to a 23-6 record, a Pac-12 Conference championship and a pair of bowl wins, including the 2020 Rose Bowl title.
In 2018, Krause helped coach an Oregon wide receiver group led by Dillon Mitchell. The Ducks’ junior finished his final season at Oregon with a program single-season record 1,184 receiving yards. It marked the 11th 1,000-yard receiving season in program history.
Mitchell led the Pac-12 Conference in receiving yards, leading to second-team all-conference honors. The Ducks’ wide receiver also earned MVP honors in Oregon’s Redbox Bowl win over Michigan State. He declared for the draft early following the season, getting picked by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
In 2019, Krause helped develop a deeper group of wide outs helping push the Ducks to a league championship and a No. 5 final ranking in both the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll. Three different receivers had 30-or-more catches, with junior Johnny Johnson III leading the team with 57 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns. Junior Jaylon Redd added 50 catches, 465 receiving yards and seven TDs, while senior Juwan Johnson had 30 catches (despite missing the first four games) for 467 yards and four touchdowns.
PLAYING CAREER & PERSONAL
Krause spent parts of four seasons in the NFL, originally signing a free agent deal with the Cleveland Browns after finishing his playing career at Vanderbilt in 2013. He won a Super Bowl ring as member of New England’s practice squad when the Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1, 2015.
Krause signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015 and played in two games catching two passes. He then spent parts of the 2016 season on the San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squads. Krause finished his professional career on the Tennessee Titans practice squad during a part of the 2016 season.
Krause was a four-year letterwinner at Vanderbilt, playing in all but two games during his career. He started 10 games as a true freshman in 2011 and finished his career starting all 11 games that he played in as a senior. Krause graduated from Vanderbilt with a degree in economics and a minor in computer science in 2014.
