Kevin Steil

Kevin Steil joined the University of Oregon Athletic Medicine staff in December 1993, and was promoted to Associate Director of Athletic Medicine in 2003. Steil coordinates the medical team providing care for Oregon football. Prior to coming to Oregon, Steil worked one year with the Ather Sports Injury Clinic in Castro Valley, Calif.
Steil graduated from Chico State before going on to earn his master’s degree in health, physical education, and leisure at Oklahoma State University where he worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. He has also worked with the USA wrestling national team and was the Head Athletic Trainer at Canada Junior College in Redwood City, California. Steil was the athletic trainer for several UO sports before being promoted to his current position.
Kevin works closely with the strength & conditioning staff, coaches, and equipment staff to support football players’ return to the field safely and to optimize performance. Steil provides leadership for the medical team members during practices and games when determining preparedness for return to play. He enjoys providing triage and emergent care, treatment and rehabilitation, with emphasis on physical readiness and injury prevention strategies.
