Taylor Housewright is in his first season as an offensive analyst on Mario Cristobal’s staff.
A former NCAA Division II All-America quarterback from Ashland University, Housewright spent last season on Oregon’s offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead’s staff at Mississippi State. Before working in the SEC, Housewright made stops at Miami (OH), Wittenberg, Ashland and Wyoming coaching quarterbacks, defensive backs, wide receivers, tight ends and running backs.
MISSISSIPPI STATE (2019)
Housewright spent one season on Joe Moorhead’s staff working as an offensive quality control coach. He assisted with coaching running backs, while helping in all aspects of recruiting, coordinating weekly scouting reports and assisting with the weekly game plan.
At MSU, Housewright worked with All-SEC running back Kylin Hill who ranked third in the conference in rushing yards (1,350) and rushing yards per game (103.85), while finishing 17th and 22nd nationally respectively. Hill was the only running back in the SEC to average more than 100-rushing yards per game, while eclipsing the 100-yard mark eight time to match a school record.
WYOMING (2018)
Housewright served as an offensive graduate assistant working with running backs and tight ends during his lone season with the Cowboys, after initially joining the Pokes as an offensive quality control coach in the spring of 2018.
Housewright helped coach first-team All-Mountain West Conference pick Nico Evans, who led the conference and finished fourth in the nation in rushing yards per game (132.50). Evans also finished second in the league in rushing yards (1,325) while ranking 13th nationally.
ASHLAND (2016-2017)
Housewright spent a pair of seasons at his alma mater, the first as the wide receivers coach and the second coaching defensive backs.
In his two seasons at Ashland, the Eagles went 20-4 with an 18-2 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. In 2016, the Eagles finished 9-2 overall, winning the South Division GLIAC title with a 7-2 record. The next season, they went undefeated in conference play, qualifying for the NCAA Division II Playoffs where the Eagles advanced to the 2017 Super Region III Semifinals.
Housewright coached two all-region and five all-conference players during his two seasons at AU. Cornerbacks Michael Griffin and Dale Irby both were named All-Super Region following the 2017 season, while they were joined by defensive back Toney Peters and free safety Kevin Bourne on the all-conference teams. In 2016, wide receiver Kameron Green claimed all-league honors.
WITTENBERG (2015)
Housewright got his first full-time coaching job at Division III Wittenberg where he coached wide receivers. The Tigers finished in third place in the North Coast Athletic Conference with an 8-2 overall record, including a 7-2 mark in NCAC play.
Three of Housewright’s wide receivers earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference recognition following the season. Corey Stump claimed first-team honors after finishing with 74 receptions, second most in school history, for 1,082 yards. He had a school-record 16 catches in a game at Hiram, as well as 14 and 13-catch games. Zach Culvahouse earned second-team All-NCAC honors, while Luke Landis was an honorable mention pick.
MIAMI-OHIO (2013-14)
Housewright began his career as a graduate assistant at Miami (OH), where he coached quarterbacks his first season and helped with defensive backs his second.
Housewright helped coach 2014 MAC Defensive Player of the Year Quinten Rollins during his season coaching DBs. Green Bay picked Rollins, who played two seasons for the Packers and one for the Arizona Cardinals, in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
PLAYING CAREER & PERSONAL
As a player for Ashland, Housewright, a three-year starter, had the highest finish by an Eagle in the Harlon Hill Trophy (NCAA Division II Player of the Year) voting, finishing fifth as a senior in 2012. Also in 2012, he was a first-team American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
Housewright, who participated in the Cincinnati Bengals' rookie mini-camp in the spring of 2013, is married to Geri, a volunteer assistant soccer coach at Oregon State.
