Karl Holmes Jr. joined the University of Oregon football staff in December 2022 and is heading into his fourth season with Oregon Football. Previously serving as Director of Player Engagement, Karl now serves as Senior Director of Football Affairs. In this role, his responsibilities include player personnel, recruiting, community engagement, player management, mental health initiatives, football operations, and supporting the program's NFL liaison efforts.

Before his time at Oregon, Karl was a teacher and football coach at John Muir High School in Pasadena, California, from 2021 to 2023, helping lead the program to a CIF Championship in 2022. He also spent five years as a Youth Treatment Specialist with Los Angeles County, assisting at-risk juveniles in their transition to adulthood through gang prevention, educational support, job placement, and mentorship programs.

Karl is a graduate of Mt. San Antonio College, where he earned an Associate of Science degree in Kinesiology. He went on to earn dual bachelor's degrees in Sports Management and Physical Education from Grand Valley State University, as well as an MBA with an emphasis in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. A former student-athlete, Karl played football at Arizona State University.
