- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Mike Mennenga joined the staff prior to the 2014-15 season as an assistant coach at the University of Oregon. During his 11 years with the Ducks, Oregon has won 273 games, four regular season Pac-12 championships and three Pac-12 Tournament championships.
In that span, the Ducks have achieved unprecedented post-season success, earning an NCAA Tournament bid in all but three eligible seasons, including making the Elite Eight in 2016, the Final Four in 2017, and the Sweet 16 in 2019 and 2021. Oregon has advanced to at least the second round in every postseason tournament with Mennenga on staff.
Mennenga’s primary role with the Ducks is player development and player recruitment, assisting with game preparation and in-game adjustments. Since Mennenga's arrival in 2014-2015, every Duck has moved on to play at the professional level, including 13 players signing deals with NBA Teams. In that time, four Ducks have earned conference Player of the Year honors, with multiple consensus All-Americans and national player of the year awards.
Mennenga began his Division I basketball coaching career at the University of Maine in 1996, where in his four seasons on staff, the team’s accomplishments included setting a program record for wins. He spent the next five seasons at the University at Buffalo, and contributed to the team’s win total increasing from five in his first season to 25 in his fifth season.
Mennenga then spent time on the basketball staffs at Iowa State, Providence and Canisius. At Canisius, he worked under Coach Jim Baron, and contributed to consecutive 20-win seasons for the program, which had not been accomplished in the previous 20 seasons.
Mennenga earned his associate’s degree from Vincennes University in 1990 and his bachelor’s degree in finance from Morehead State University in 1993, where he was a member of the basketball team.
Mike and his wife Shannetta have two daughters, Cheyenne and Nyla.
