Beginning his 11th year with the men’s program is veteran club professional Al Mundle. The teaching pro at Eugene’s RiveRidge Golf Course the past 11 years provides instructional help for the Ducks and has been a big part of the team’s success.
Recent years have been quite memorable for Mundle. As the personal coach for 2000 U.S. Amateur champion Jeff Quinney, Mundle accompanied Quinney to the 2001 Master’s, U.S. Open and British Open.
Mundle is a 1954 University of Oregon graduate and worked for two years at Middlefield Village as Director of Golf before moving to RiveRidge. He has worked at clubs throughout the Northwest since his graduation.
Winner of the 1993 Oregon PGA Seniors’ Championship, Mundle has won three PGA club titles and been a member of the Senior Hudson Cup team on two occasions.
An active member of the Pacific Northwest PGA, he is the current Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee, a post he has held for 14 years. A member himself of the Pacific Northwest PGA Hall of Fame, he has won two teacher of the year awards and been golf pro of the year in the Northwest twice.
