Vanessa Gomez joined the Athletic Medicine staff in the summer of 2015. Gomez is responsible for managing the healthcare of the men’s and women’s track and field teams. Prior to her time with Oregon, Vanessa served as an athletic trainer at Temple University.
Gomez earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Florida in 2011. She then went on to earn her master’s degree from in the same field from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2012 while working with a number of sports as the head athletic trainer at Northampton Community College. Vanessa also completed a year-long post-graduate internship at Michigan State, where she served as an athletic trainer for the women’s varsity and novice rowing teams.
Vanessa takes a professional interest in holistic whole body approaches to rehab and manual therapy. Her love of crossfit also gives her a unique opportunity to add a fitness based approach to her rehabilitation methods. Currently residing in Eugene, Vanessa enjoys vinyasa yoga in her spare time and is looking to become certified in the near future.
