Theadora (Theo) Kwas was tabbed as an assistant coach for the Oregon lacrosse program in September 2023.
In 2025, Kwas helped guide the Ducks to their second consecutive winning record at home while making the transition to the Big Ten Conference. Kwas helped coach transfer Bri Carrasquillo to a career year as the graduate student led the Ducks in goals (40), points (50), free-position goals (12) – which set the program record for most in a single season – and shots (85) and finished second on the team with 10 assists.
Kwas also helped guide Anna Simmons to a stellar junior campaign, as she was named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Week three times and one of only seven players nationally to score 30-plus goals, secure 21-plus ground balls and cause 15-plus turnovers during the regular season. Simmons also tied the Oregon program record with seven goals against Stetson, while her 20 goals during the first four games of the year are the most by any Duck during a four-game stretch ever.
Prior to the start of the 2025 season, Kwas suited up for the Australian national team at the Asia-Pacific Women’s Lacrosse Championship, helping lead the team to a silver medal and secure a spot in the in the 2026 World Lacrosse Championship in Japan.
In her first season with UO, Kwas helped guide the Ducks their first winning season since 2017 and a program record seven home victories. With her offensive expertise, Kwas also played a role in mentoring Morgan McCarthy on her way to becoming the first UO player to win Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year. In 2024, McCarthy led Oregon in points (48), goals (42), shots on goal (63) and ground balls (26) while ranking second on the team with 17 caused turnovers and was one of just eight players nationally – and the only in the Pac-12 – with 40-plus goals, 30-plus draw controls and 15-plus caused turnovers at the conclusion of the regular season.
Kwas, a native of Melbourne, Australia, came to Eugene after serving as an assistant coach at William & Mary during the two seasons prior. In 2022, Kwas helped guide the Tribe to an 8-8 record, the best in program history.
As a student-athlete at Maryland (2014-17), Kwas helped the Terps win three national titles and four Big Ten conference championships, the most successful run since Maryland's powerhouse decade in which they won eight national championships in 10 seasons, including seven-straight between 1995-2001.
As a member of the Senior Australian National Team, she competed with the squad at multiple international championships in 2017 and 2022. At the 2017 and 2022 World Games, Kwas helped Australia to a pair of bronze-medal finishes. Kwas also competed with the U19 Australian team in 2011 and 2015, being selected to the FIL U19 Championship All-World Team in 2015 and helping her team earn a silver medal at the 2011 FIL World Cup.
