Kate Cooney joined the full-time communications staff in July 2025 after three years as a student intern. During her time as a student, she led communications efforts for UO Men's Tennis, served as the secondary contact for the 2025 NCAA Softball Super Regional and assisted with other Oregon athletic programs. Cooney graduated from the University of Oregon, earning a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and communication with a sports business focus. Prior to attending UO, Cooney worked as an athletics administrative assistant at Carpinteria High School.
