EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon volleyball team announced on Monday a loaded 2018 schedule that features four premiere nonconference opponents, 14 home matches at Matthew Knight Arena and 15 total televised matches.
"This schedule allows us to compete against the best in the country and prepare for a deep postseason run," second-year head coach Matt Ulmer said. "I'm excited for this group to experience matches in the Devaney Center (Nebraska) and Stan Sheriff Center (Hawaii), two of the great volleyball venues with extremely knowledgeable and passionate fans."

For the fourth year in a row, the Ducks will begin their season at the VERT Challenge, which will be held this year in Lincoln, Neb. Oregon will open against a pair of 2017 NCAA Final Four teams, facing Texas on August 24 and host Nebraska on August 25. The Ducks pulled off the upset of the eventual national champion Cornhuskers in their 2017 season opener to get the Ulmer era at Oregon off to a strong start.
Oregon will then return to Eugene for four straight matches at Matthew Knight Arena to kick off its 2018 home schedule. The Ducks will face Portland State on August 28 before welcoming Utah Valley, Long Beach State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff to MKA for the Oregon Classic on August 31 and September 1.
UO will head to Stanford, Calif., to face two more big-name opponents on September 7-8 in the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge. The Ducks will take on Minnesota on September 7 on Pac-12 Network (P12N) before playing Penn State the following night.
"We will be able to measure ourselves early on," said Ulmer. "These four teams all play very different styles of volleyball and will prepare us for a loaded Pac-12 season. We want to be playing the last weekend of the season. In order to do that, we need to schedule and have success against the best.
"Our schedule features programs that have won 35 of the 37 total national championships in our sport. We want to be playing quality opponents all season long."
The Ducks will wrap their nonconference schedule in some warm weather with a pair of matches against Hawaii in Honolulu on September 13-14.
Oregon's 2018 Pac-12 Conference schedule will begin on September 20 with a Civil War match against Oregon State at MKA, the first of four home matches to begin conference play. UO will host Washington State on September 23 (P12N) before welcoming Arizona (Sept. 28, P12N) and Arizona State (Sept. 30).
The Ducks will then hit the road for four straight road Pac-12 matches, beginning in Los Angeles against UCLA on October 5 (P12N) and USC on October 7. Oregon will wrap the road trip at the mountain schools, facing Colorado on October 12 and Utah on October 14 (P12N).
UO will finish the first half of conference play by returning home to take on California on October 19 (P12N) before playing Stanford two days later, with TV information still to come for the match against the Cardinal.
The second half of Pac-12 action will begin for the Ducks in Arizona, with Oregon playing Arizona State on October 26 (P12N) and Arizona on October 28. USC and UCLA will come to Matthew Knight Arena on November 2 and 4, respectively, with both matches televised on Pac-12 Network, before the Ducks head to the Bay Area to face Stanford (P12N) on November 8 and California on November 11.
Oregon will play Utah at home on November 16 (P12N) before wrapping its regular-season home schedule against Colorado on November 18. The Ducks will then head north to Seattle to face Washington on November 21 (P12N), and will close the regular season in Corvallis against Oregon State on November 24 (P12N).
"It's an honor to be able to compete in the best volleyball conference in the country," said Ulmer. "This season will not disappoint. There is so much depth and exciting matchups. Our fans have a lot of quality volleyball to look forward to in Matthew Knight Arena."
