EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Luke Jackson scored 22 points, including 14 in the second half, as Oregon held off a late Portland State rally to win 62-55 on Tuesday.
It was the 23rd straight nonconference win at home for the Ducks (2-0), who were playing for the first time in 11 days. It was the 18th consecutive road loss for the Vikings (1-3).
Oregon's Ian Crosswhite added 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while Brandon Lincoln scored 12. Seth Scott led Portland State with 15 points before fouling out in the final minute. Sheu Oduniyi added 11 for the Vikings.
Jackson scored 10 points in the first nine minutes of the second half as the Ducks quickly turned a 28-22 halftime lead into a 48-34 advantage with 11:04 to play.
But it wasn't enough to put the Vikings away, as Seamus Boxley and Scott scored four points each to spark an 11-3 run as Portland State cut the deficit to 51-45 with 4:53 remaining.
A tip-in by Boxley with 3:30 to play pulled the Vikings to within 52-48. That was as close as they would come, though, as the Ducks converted all 10 of their free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Oregon led by only six points at half, as 11 first-half turnovers and a 41 percent shooting percentage hindered its ability to take advantage of a 13:13 stretch where Portland State failed to score a field goal.
The Vikings took a 12-9 lead at the 14:43 mark following a basket inside by Scott. But Portland missed its next 13 attempts from the field before Oduniyi hit a 3-pointer with a little over a minute before halftime. In the meantime, the Ducks went on an 18-2 run to go up 27-14.
But an 8-1 run to close out the half brought the Vikings back.
