Benedetti Ties for 10th at The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. -- Freshman Joey Benedetti shot a final round 1-over 73 and finished tied for 10th as Oregon concluded its fall men's golf season by tying for 10th Tuesday at The Prestige at PGA West, played on the par-72, 7,156-yard Greg Norman Course.

Benedetti, from Huntington Beach, Calif., had four birdies and five bogeys en route to both his best round and his highest finish as a collegian. Benedetti was 11-strokes over par (227) for the three round event.

No. 11 UCLA shot a final round 294 and won the tournament at 904. UC Davis was second at 913, followed by UC Irvine and No. 24 Texas Tech, who tied for third at 917, and Oklahoma fifth at 922. Stanford took sixth at 924, followed by Kansas and No. 7 Texas Christian, who tied for seventh at 925, and No. 13 Brigham Young ninth at 931.

Oregon shot its best round of the tournament, a 308, but fell two spots into a tie for 10th with Notre Dame at 934.

The Ducks' Kyle Johnson, a junior from North Bend, Ore., competing in his first event of the season, tied for 33rd at 231, while Chris Dukeminier, a graduate of Eugene's Sheldon High School, tied for 53rd at 240.

Erik Hill of UC Davis fired a tournament-best 69 Tuesday to win the individual title. Hill finished at 1-over 217 to defeat Cole Isban of Notre Dame by two strokes.
