
Women's Tennis Roughs Up Kansas State

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 27-ranked Oregon women's tennis team (11-7, 2-6) teamed picked up its second win in two days, taking down the Kansas State Wildcats, 7-0, in a non-conference dual match. The win marked the 11th for Oregon, surpassing last year's mark of 10, with six non-conference dual matches remaining.
In doubles, Oregon took care of business, winning two of the three matches. Anna Leksinska and Dominika Dieskova continued to roll, picking up their team-leading 12th dual win, defeating Jessica Simosa and Hayley McIver, 8-3. At the No. 3 position, Oregon's Ester Bak and Jamie Marshall won their second doubles match in two tries, taking down Judith Diaz and Emily Mickelson, 8-1, to give the Ducks the doubles point.
Daria Panova teamed with Davina Mendiburu for only the second time this season, losing to K-State's Maria Rosenberg and Paulina Castillejos, 8-6.
In singles, it was all Oregon, as the Ducks won all six matches. No. 8-ranked Daria Panova won her fifth match in a row, beating Maria Rosenberg, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. The win marked the 26th for Panova, putting her within six of tying the Oregon record for wins in a season (32 - Panova 2002-03).
Freshman Dominika Dieskova won her 10th dual of the season, defeating Jessica Simosa, 6-4, 7-6, at the No. 2 position. Davina Mendiburu took care of the Wildcat's Paulina Castillejos, 7-6, 6-3, at position No. 3.
At the No. 4 position, Jamie Marshall won her second match in a row, defeating Hayley McIver, 6-7, 7-5, (10-4). Sophomore Anna Leksinska who won her seventh dual of the season, upending Judith Diaz, 6-2, 6-3.
"We are having to deal with some injuries right now," said Oregon head coach Nils Schyllander. "Anna (Leksinska) stepped up for the second day in a row and really played well. We played great from top to bottom."
Rounding out doubles play was Oregon's Ester Bak, who made easy work of K-State's Aveen Alkhatib, 6-1, 6-0.
The Ducks continue action for the third time in three days in Fresno, Calif., when they take on the Missouri Tigers (Tue., March 23, 10 a.m.).
