Nealy in Seventh after Peg Barnard First Round

STANFORD, Calif.-- Senior leader Johnna Nealy carded a 2-over 73 and is tied for seventh after the first round of the Peg Barnard Invitational, Saturday. In the team race, the Ducks sit alone in seventh place at 28-over, 312.
The Stanford Golf Course, a par-71 playing to 6,031 yards, allowed only two rounds under par the first round. Defending Barnard Invitational medalist, Washington State's Kim Welch's 66 leads the field by four strokes.
Washington leads the team competition at three-over 287, followed by Washington State (295), Stanford (302), Fresno State (302) and San Francisco (309).
Denver stands sixth (311), followed by the Ducks' 312 and Oregon State's 313. Long Beach State (317) and UC Irvine (320) sit ninth and 10th respectively.
Kim McCready, a sophomore from Placerville, Calif., also ranks top-20 (19th,76), followed by Victoria Wenslow (42nd, 81). Michelle Timpani (49th, 82) and Erin Andrews (65th, 85) also competed for the Ducks.
Oregon finishes the 36-hole event Sunday, and has one week before the Pac-10 Championships, which begin April 18 in Pleasanton, Calif.
