Ducks Bite Wolfpack

“It's good to be 4-0, what I can say,” head coach Kevin Kowalik. “It was good to get a win against a very solid program.”
The Ducks took the doubles point winning at No. 2 and 3. Thomas Bieri and Fernando Freitas ripped off an, 8-2 victory at No. 2 over Rafal Stupka and Tibor Penzes.
The pair was quickly joined in victory by two Duck freshmen Gustavo Loza and Mike Myrhed who rolled over Randy Reynolds and Max Volger, 8-3.
At the top spot Markus Schiller and Arron Spencer battled to a 7-7 tie against Eldar Dzhafarov and Guillame Tonelli, which put the match in a tiebreaker, since the point was, decided which the Ducks won 8-6.
Myrhed's super freshman season continued with another dominant straight sets victory, 6-1, and 6-0 over Stupka. Eric Pickard also moved quickly in his match coming away with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Freitas' continued adding to his solid freshman season with his own straight sets victory, a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Reynolds. Schiller wrapped a solid victory of his own, winning6-2, 6-4 over Penzes. Bieri fell in a tough two set match to Tonelli 7-6, 7-5.
“Thomas had an off night but, that's okay,” Kowalik said. “Most of the teams we face are going to be strong at the top and we just need to get past them.”
