EUGENE, Ore. -- The Ducks used another balanced effort, as six Ducks scored a goal, to cruise past the University of Ohio Bobcats, 12-6, Saturday afternoon at Pap? Field. The effort marked the third consecutive game in which at least six players scored.
Lindsay Killian led the scoring for the Ducks, tallying three goals, including the first goal of the game only six seconds into the contest. Sophomores Jen May and Alison Leiner and freshman Ilsa van den Berg each added two goals for the Ducks. Sophomores Kate Fleming, Erin Gaebe and Jana Bradley also tallied goals.
"We were confident coming into the game, having defeated them last year," said Killian. "We wanted to get our momentum going heading into the three games next week."
The Ducks outshot the Bobcats 26-14 on the game, dominating the offensive zone and creating opportunities in weather conditions that created a sloppy playing surface. The Ducks also caused 18 broken clears and 26 total turnovers from the Bobcats, which allowed for extended Oregon possessions in the offensive zone. The Ducks only turned the ball over 14 times.
"We did a great job in the first half, doing alot of things well," said Coach Jen Larsen. "Ohio went on a little bit of a run to open the second half, but we did a good job containing that and getting the win."
Oregon jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game and would never trail. The Ducks led at the half 8-2. Ohio came out of the break on a 4-2 scoring run, but would never come any closer.
Theresa Waldron, Leiner, May, Fleming, and Bradley all had assists in the effort.
Anna Poponyak and Allison O'Brien split time evenly in goal for the Ducks, Poponyak allowed two goals and O'Brien the other four.
