CORVALLIS, Ore. ? It's called the Civil War for a reason, and in Saturday's Pac-10 opener for rivals Oregon and Oregon State, the two foes battled until the buzzer sounded at Gill Coliseum.
And when time expired it was

The game was filled with 16 lead changes, as each program pieced together separate runs, in front of a raucous crowd of 3,036.

Sophomore guard Taylor Lilley once again led her team in scoring, with 21, including the Ducks' last two field goals of the game.

Nurse and senior guard Kaela Chapdelaine provided veteran
leadership down the stretch, as Nurse hit a trey and was 5-of-6 from the line,
while Chapdelaine led

The Beavers took their first lead of the second half, 42-40, on a turn around post up jumper from Stacey Nichols, and extended it to 44-40 with Allen's five-foot jumper.
Trailing 42-46,
The first-half was loaded with high-scoring and fast-paced
action, as
Lilley reached double figures before the first 10 minutes elapsed, knocking down her second three-pointer from two feet behind the arc with a hand in her face. She finished the half with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
The game began with a scoring flurry, as both teams combined for five three-pointers in the first six minutes. Cocks, hit two treys from opposite sides of the baseline, while Lilley stepped a few feet back from the line to sink her first long distance shot, giving Oregon a 13-7 lead.
The style of play also gave way for freshman Nia Jackson to
play 11 minutes in the first half. While not scoring a field goal, with under
30 seconds to go, Jackson had a critical steal and was fouled hard under the
basket, but connected on both her freebies from the stripe to give the Ducks a
four-point halftime advantage. She also added three boards and two assists in
the first half.
Manou returned to the floor despite still rehabbing a sore foot. After missing the Ducks' last two games, the 6-foot-3 post returned to display her touch around the basket, scoring six points and grabbing four rebounds in the first 20 minutes.
QUICK QUACKS: Oregon used its sixth starting lineup of the year, as freshman center Nicole Canepa was unavailable after suffering an ankle sprain against Tulsa...freshman Victoria Kenyon started in her place...the Ducks now lead the series with Oregon 55-24...it was the first time this season Oregon won despite allowing an opponent to score more than 60.
