
Ducks Take 6-1 Victory Over Eastern Washington

EUGENE, Ore.- Oregon began the second weekend of their homestand by playing Eastern Washington Friday evening at the Student Tennis Center.
Oregon began strong in doubles play, as Alexander Cornelissen and Mike Myrhed easily overcame Art Karas and Nico Riego de Dios 8-4. The next two doubles finishes left the Ducks in two close tiebreaks. Francisco Gallardo and Marcos Verdasco pulled out the 9-8 victory over Pannhara Mam and Kyle Schraeder, clinching the doubles point for Oregon.
As singles play began, Stephen Wiechert pulled ahead quickly at the No. 6 spot, defeating Patrick Millican 6-2, 6-3 in Oregon's first singles finish.
Romeo Mortera also pulled out the victory against Kenneth Norling after two close sets, winning 6-4, 6-4.
After a close first set, Verdasco pulled out a decisive No. 2 spot win over Schraeder 6-4, 6-1.
After falling in the first set 2-6 to Karas, Myrhed came back in the second match 6-2, and finished off the game with a third match score of 7-5.
Next up for the Ducks is a match up against Sacramento State on Sunday, January 27 at 1 p.m. The Ducks go into the game with a record of 3-0.
