Duck Trio Improve to 30th in Stanford Day 2

STANFORD, Calif. ? A trio of Duck women's golfers climbed into a tie for 30th place in the second day of the 45th annual Stanford Intercollegiate Saturday and helped No. 27 UO improve two positions to 11th place (and 582 overall score) in the all-star field.
On the par 71, 6,092-yard Stanford Golf Course, UO shot a 7-over 291 for the second straight round for its fourth sub-300 score of the fall in eight rounds altogether.
Individually, sophomore Kendra Little carded a 2-under 69 ? UO's lowest round of the tourney and third-lowest of the round overall among the 90 players on-hand. Freshman Ashley Edwards came back with a 2-over 73 Saturday to also tie for 30th overall with the same exact as senior Cathryn Bristow (72-73-145).
Sophomore Monika Graf also scored for the team for the second straight day (72-76-148), and UO's other entry Saturday was Felicia Eastick (73rd-tie, 75-79-154).
Sophomore Erica Omlid continued play as an individual and shot a career-best score for the second consecutive day and is tied for 59th overall with her 7-over overall score (75-74-149).
Little's 2-under 69 was the second-best score for the Ducks this year behind her 3-under 69 in the Giustina Memorial Classic a month ago. On Saturday, she shot birdies on the par-5 seventh, par-3 14th and par-4 18th holes, had par scores on 14 holes, and her lone bogey came on the par-4 second hole.
Edwards had three birdies on the par-3 third, par-4 16th and par-3 18th holes, had par scores on 10 holes, and five bogeys on the par-5 7th, par-3 eighth, par-4 ninth, par-4 13th and par-3 14th holes. Bristow had three birdies in a row to end the front nine on the par-5 seventh, par-3 eighth and par-4 ninth holes, had par scores on 10 holes, and bogeys on the par-3 third, par-4 sixth, par-5 12th, par-3 14th and par-4 18th holes.
Overall in the team standings, No. 3 UCLA improved its lead to three strokes in the second round (277-285-562), ahead of No. 1 USC (second, 279-286-565), No. 5 Oklahoma State (third, 278-289-567), No. 31 Arizona (fourth-tie, 282-289-571) and No. 19 Stanford (fourth-tie, 279-292-571).
Other teams in the field included No. 6 Vanderbilt (sixth, 289-285-574), No. 9 Duke (seventh-tie, 285-291-576), No. 18 California (seventh-tie, 284-292-576), No. 14 Pepperdine (ninth, 287-290-577), No. 24 Arkansas (10th, 282-299-581), No. 27 Oregon (11th, 291-291-582), No. 59 Texas (12th, 295-288-583), No. 58 UNLV (13th, 287-298-585), No. 47 New Mexico (14th, 282-304-586), No. 25 Washington (15th, 296-300-596) and No. 39 Oregon State (16th, 312-307-619).
Individually, Oklahoma State's Caroline Masson also added two strokes to her lead (65-70-135), and was followed by UCLA's Ryann O'Toole (second, 72-66-138) and USC's Lizette Salas (second-tie, 66-72-138). UCLA's Tiffany Joh (68-71-139) and USC's Belen Mozo (68-71) were tied for fourth place.
Looking back to UO's first round action Friday, Edwards, Graf and Bristow were tied for 34th overall with their 1-over scores of 72, and UO stood 13th overall with its 291 first-round score. Other UO first-day results follow: Eastick (63rd-tie, 75), Little (68th-tie, 76) and Omlid (63rd-tie, 75).
