Graf Paces Golfers to Ihlanfeldt Runner-up Finish

SAMMAMISH, Wash. ? The No. 31 University of Oregon women's golf team held onto second place in Wednesday's final round action against a talented Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational field at the Sahalee Golf Club near Seattle.
The Ducks posted their second straight runner-up finish of the fall (299-309-313-921), and trailed No. 37 Stanford (303-303-299-905) by 16 strokes in the final standings.
Washington followed in third place (310-310-302-922), ahead of No. 40 San Francisco (fourth-tie, 321-298-308-927), No. 16 California (fourth-tie, 310-308-309-927), No. 46 Long Beach State (sixth, 316-303-318-937) and No. 30 Oregon State (seventh, 306-312-322-940).
Other teams in the field included BYU (eighth, 318-313-312-943), Washington State (ninth, 324-304-316-944), New Mexico State (10th, 317-326-310-953), Idaho (11th, 315-317-331-963), No. 12 New Mexico (12th, 319-322-326-967) and Eastern Washington (13th, 330-309-331-970).
Individually for UO, sophomore Monika Graf shot a team best 75 Wednesday to move back into third place overall (73-78-75-226). Fellow sophomore Kendra Little also shot a 75 Wednesday to tie for 10th place (73-80-75-228), while Felicia Eastick added a top-20 finish in her first action of the fall (18th-tie, 77-76-80-233). Oregon's other entries logged the same final round score of 83 ? sophomore Erica Omlid (28th-tie, 78-75-83-236) and junior Kate Hildahl (46th-tie, 76-86-83-245).
Graf led UO for the second time in the event's three rounds (and in her collegiate career), and her 75 tied her second-lowest career score in 15 collegiate rounds, and was only two strokes behind her collegiate best 73 opener Monday. Coming into the season she owned a collegiate best of 76 from the 2007-08 campaign, and she has bettered that score in three of the fall's first six rounds.
In the final round Wednesday, the East Wenatchee, Wash., product Graf turned in birdies on the par-4 seventh and par-3 17th holes, shot par on 11 holes, and had bogeys on the par-4 third, fourth, eighth, 14th and 15th holes.

Little scored a pair of birdies on the par-5 sixth and par-4 seventh holes, claimed par scores on 11 holes, and added bogeys on the par-4 third, par-3 ninth, par-5 11th, par-4 12th and 15th holes.
Overall on the individual front, Stanford's Mari Chun carded the low daily low, an even-par 72, to win by four strokes over Kayla Mortellaro of Idaho (second, 74-73-75-222). UO's Graf was one of four players tied for third with a 10-over score of 226.
The Ducks entered the final round in second place four strokes behind Stanford, with Graf the top Duck individual (seventh, 73-78-151) and three others were tied for 13th overall ? Omlid (78-75-153), Eastick (77-76-153) and Little (73-80-153). In the second round, Omlid led UO for the first time in her career in 26 collegiate rounds, and her 3-over 75 tied her collegiate best that she shot three times her freshman campaign in 2007-08.
In the first round Monday, UO led the field by four strokes with its 299, and featured all five players in the top 20 overall - Graf and Little (second-tie, 73), Hildahl and Eastick (12th-tie, 76) and Omlid (20th-tie, 78).
Looking ahead, the Ducks will again face many of the nation's top teams in the Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate next Friday-Sunday, October 17-19 on the Stanford Golf Course.
